THE QUICK TAKE
Choose your stopping point before opening an app. A phone setting supports that decision; it does not make the decision for you.

Find the timer in Android settings
On supported phones, open Settings → Digital Wellbeing → App timers. Beside the app, select the timer control, choose a daily allowance and confirm with OK. Labels vary by device; some work or school accounts cannot use timers.
If the option is missing, consult your phone maker’s instructions. This is a phone-level setting, not a button we have verified inside Tongits Go.
What happens when the allowance runs out?
Google says the app closes and its icon dims when time expires. Timers reset at midnight. Treat the allowance as a daily total, not a fresh countdown for every opening.
Before starting anything you cannot comfortably leave, consider your stopping point. We have not tested what an interrupted game session would do to progress, so do not assume this setting saves or pauses a table.
Need a scheduled pause instead?
In Digital Wellbeing → Focus mode, select apps to pause, then enable it or set a schedule. While active, selected apps and their notifications are unavailable. The optional break control temporarily unpauses them.
Choose the control that fits the question: a daily allowance concerns accumulated use; a scheduled pause concerns a particular part of your day.
Write a stopping plan before changing a setting
Try this original three-line exercise on paper:
- My next commitment: write something concrete, such as preparing dinner.
- My stopping point: choose a time that leaves room for that commitment.
- What I will do next: name one action away from the screen, such as putting the phone on its shelf.
For example, “Dinner preparation starts at 6:30; I will finish reading at 6:15 and put my phone away.” These times are illustrative, not a prescribed allowance. Choose a plan that fits your own day, then check whether the setting you selected supports it.
A quick check before you leave
PLAN, THEN REVEAL
Your note says only “use my phone less”. Which useful detail is missing?
Reveal the answer
A specific stopping point and a next action. Rewrite the note so you can tell whether you followed it, without inventing a universal time limit.
If your concern is accidental spending, read our separate Google Play purchase verification guide. For an offline reading exercise, try identifying card suits and ranks with a paper deck and no stakes.
